WFMW--Backwards Day--HTML and Dishwashers

I know, I know, I am not exactly keeping to one theme this week. But my two pressing life problems right now:

1) Anyone ever use a free online HTML tutorial that they found helpful? I know nothing about building a webpage or elements of HTML beyond the world of Blogger (which I know enough to know doesn't count).

2) Our dishwasher is on its last legs. Anyone have one they adore or loathe that they would like to suggest I keep an eye out for sales on or run from like the plague? (My old one is fine, btw, just really old and not especially effective anymore, so it's not like I'm keeping some potentially instructive lemon story from you while asking for your dishwasher experiences. It is, I think you would say, reaching the end of its natural life, is all.)

Thanks Blogworld!

I love my dishwasher enough that I had to go look up its number to share with you: GLD6500L00WW.

We got it at Lowe's, but I can't find that specific model number on their website. It's a GE, with Quiet Power 3, and has a fantastic sprayer system & disposal system. It also comes with a utensil organizing basket, so your spoons don't get stuck together. It was a wee bit pricey ($500ish?) but it has been well worth it, especially for all the baby bottles and now sippy cups that have been run through the thing.

If you go to Lowe's, your appliance people should be able to help you find a similar model! Good luck!

I totally love my new Kenmore dishwasher. Easy to load and really cleans the dishes!

I love both of these sites!

As far as dishwashers go, I can't help, sorry. :-(

but the question about the dishwasher is....
is it a funky dimension like the refrigerator? Happy hunting!

Okay, Lowes is TOTALLY the place to go (trust me on this) as far as price and selection. But I have to tell you that the Kitchen Aid Stainless Interior is second to none. It is sooooo quiet. It washes everything off of my dishes (and I never pre-rinse!). It was $600-800, depending on what finish you get (stainless, white, bisque) but well worth it. Oh, and it is Energy Star Compliant, so good for the planet (well, better for the planet). Did I mention it is quiet?

What do you want to learn how to do in html? Most of the html I've learned I learned by seeing something cool, thinking, "How did they do that?" and then hitting "View: Page Source"

As for dishwashers, I have a general recommendation rather than a specific one... see if you can find a "dent and scratch" place. Since only one side of a dishwasher shows, you can get some amazingly good deals on ones that took a hit when dropped (or whatever) but that will look and run completely fine once you've got them installed. We did this at our house in G'town, I think, and it worked out great.

my dishwasher is on it's last legs too. It still works but it does not seem to clean anything on the top rack anymore and the bottom rack cleans somethings and not other things. So we're handwashing for now, hopefully we'll be able to get a new one soon.
